The Bride and Groom

This was probably the most nervous day of the whole project - sailing the Barge the nine miles to Belfast. We picked an early morning with very calm conditions and with skipper Brian, Ivan Gillian and David onboard we set off at 08.30am. We had Willie and grandson in a support boat just in case !
Our top speed is 4 knots and our initial estimate of trip duration was 4-6 hours. We rocked home in 2.5 hours practically surfing into the harbour. The journey was great apart from a few run ins with the Stena ferry - size does matter !
